Tangible Hope Ministries Presents Cards For Prisoners Newsletter

MARCH 2025

Cards For Prisoners  exists to bring hope and encouragement to incarcerated individuals and their loved ones through heartfelt letters and cards. We share God’s love with those currently and formerly incarcerated, offering support as they rebuild their lives. Our mission also includes engaging the local church to walk alongside returning citizens and families affected by incarceration, fostering community and tangible hope.

VERSE OF THE MONTH

If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth”.

1 John 3:17-18

Paula's Perspective

“ONE card, one letter, can make all the difference in one life”.

I repeat that sentence to many people several times a week. Every major milestone Cards For Prisoners has reached started with ONE card. In November 2015, I mailed a card to my friend’s grandson who was in prison in Michigan. A few months later that card became a stack of encouragement cards he collected. Realizing the impact that had on him sparked the idea for Cards For Prisoners.

Later that year, I heard about a young man in a youth home who was facing life in prison (he was 12). I had no idea who he was, but I sent him a card. I did that once a month for a year. When I heard back from him he asked “If you are religious, please pray for me”, and said he would like to meet me. A family dynamic developed through many youth home visits, leading to off-site visits, and weekend visits with my family, At the age of 19 the judge released him to live with us. That was in 2021. He is now doing well, going to college, working, and living on his own. Why? Because he received ONE card.

There is another story about a man named David who received a card from me. He had no idea who I was or how I got his name and prison location. CFP recorded a video about that story (click the link below to watch). Well, that ONE card changed David’s life forever – and mine too.

David’s story has developed into an amazing work of God over the last 5 or 6 years. We are preparing to record part 2 of David’s story this year. No spoilers, but stay tuned because that ONE card, which took me just a few minutes to write, was the catalyst for David’s release from prison as well as many other events in his life that no human could orchestrate. But God…

Grace & Peace,
