Cards For Prisoners exists to give hope and encouragement from our pen pals through cards and letters. We show God’s love for those previously and currently incarcerated and offer support to their loved ones. We incorporate the local church in the lives of returned citizens as well as families affected by incarceration.

VERSE OF THE MONTH

“Forget the former things;    do not dwell on the past.See, I am doing a new thing!    Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”Isaiah 43:19 (NIV)

PAULA’S PERSPECTIVE

God is on the move!In August 2016, God moved my heart to start Cards For Prisoners. After trying to push that thought out of my head for months, CFP became a 501c3 non-profit in October 2016. Due to substantial growth, from 2020-2024 CFP was under the “umbrella” of 70×7 Life Recovery. Just as God moved my heart in 2016, it became obvious that he had a new path for CFP in the fall of 2024. Stepping out in faith I told God I would follow where He leads. Well, he led!

Within a very short time, our non-profit status was reestablished as Tangible Hope Ministries, doing business as Cards For Prisoners. Within weeks, we received offers of assistance from our dedicated pen pals, local churches, and former ministry partners. We have a new logo, a new Board of Directors, and several new “Tangible Hope Churches.” We also have a new logo created for us by Scott Allen Creative (they do amazing work for non-profit organizations).

When we surrender, God works! That sounds pretty simple but for me, it takes God’s constant reminders of His faithfulness in the past. I’m thankful He has never given up on me. I’m also grateful for the CFP supporters that believe in this ministry.

Tangible Hope Ministries (CFP) is embracing Isaiah 43:19!

penpals on the outside

“I didn’t hear from my pen pal for a few months. When he finally wrote he let me know he didn’t have envelopes or stamps but my cards helped so much during a difficult time. I’m glad I didn’t stop writing.”-Penpal since 2022

penpals on the inside

“On behalf of all the inmates we thank you for taking your own time to devote to us. People see us as bad people, but really, we are just people who made bad choices. In you giving us your time, it helps us to know we still matter.”-Inmate at Cooper Street CF

AN OPPORUNITY FOR YOU!

Our team is often asked, “What can we do to help?” Even though Christmas is a year away, we need to plan for our Pen-Pal-Palooza in 2025. When you are shopping, please pick up a box or two of holiday cards. We will need over 2,000 cards next year and currently have under 300 in stock. Most stores have them 50-75% off so it’s a great time to stock up. Contact Paula at 616-446-3174 or by email at paulac@cardsforprisoners.org for pick-up or delivery details. (Please keep in mind that we cannot use cards that contain embellishments or glitter).

Financial donations may be sent to Cards For Prisoners at PO Box 413 Grandville MI 49468.
